AEM CAI Problems??
Anyone have any experience with AEM CAI and blowing their engine?? ... many say it's unlikely to get enuf water in there to blow your engine, but the by-pass valve takes away power since it there is disturbance in the air flow ... i guess what i'm really asking is whether or not getting a by-pass valve is necessary.

Thanks for your inputs ... but has anyone tested the differences (with the same engine) between an AEM CAI with a by-pass and without?? ... and difference in engine sound?? ... and difference in power??

Uh, any disturbance in the "airflow" is more than made up with "cool" air and less chance of hydrolock.
I had a 92 Civic with a AEM cold air intake. I did not have the bypass though. I drove through a puddel that was about 6 to 8 inches deep. I had the car lowered, so it sucked up a lot of water. Hydrolocked it what they call it. I bent a rod, (badly). I live in Colorado so I guess it really matters where you live. Just stay away from deep water puddles. Keep it real!
