vtec-e = pointless if your looking for power

i will say do the mini me and turbo it try this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=735196

and stock compression in your d16y5 is: 9.4:1

I would really like the see a turbo'ed HX, that would very very unique since no one ever does it. I've only seen it done once. The only thing i would suggest to turboing the HX would be to put in an EX tranny. Shorter gears all the way !

in my opinion you should get a z6 and turbo it, 8-10 psi, and you will easily get around 200hp with a good tune... its been done... and the compression of a z6 is i believe 9.0/1 please correct me if Im wrong, but I know people who've put ARP headstuds and turbod it and pulled mid 12-high 12 quarter mile times, which isnt bad for a stock z6 turbo'd hehe with a good driver, and a clutch of course.... good luck I would also like to see some dyno numbers

Mini me it, then boost. Waste of time otherwise, seriously if you boost the stocker, you're a turd.

Lots of people boost y7's which are weaker that your y5 and get ~200whp almost just as easily as z6 and y8's do. Going from a y5 to a y8 or z6 head is not worth it in my opinion. The money can be better spent on the turbo parts and tuning

Buy an ls motor for 600 bucks and do a home made turbo setup on that for under 400 bucks... u spend under a g and u'll be way happier then with any sohc. You can get most parts for your own turbo kit from a junkyard... All you really have to buy offline is the manifold. I've done a sohc turbo its disappointing.

get the jdm single cam d15b and turbo it...it'll run a lot better and chipped your ecu to mugen and your'll be good...trust me...the jdm single cam long block is only $350-75 you should use a SI tranny or EX same thing but shorter gear is good for runs...It's a garentee win

y5=not worth boosting...

get a z6head.. a stock d16z6 has ~9.14:1cr

the d15b wont last as long as the z6.. same rods as a z6, but higher cr..

Stock HX makes 115 hp, so I don't think the vtec-e matters much, prolly make pretty decent power and he wouldn't see vtec-e much if he was driving it hard anyway. Plus, he'd get killer gas mileage when he wanted it.
