1/2-finished suspension install
Need some help here, folks. I might be f&cked. I'm installing H&R and KYB on my 96 Accord. The fronts went in just fine. On the right rear, I sheared the head off the bolt - it is rusted pretty good into the bushing. This is the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock into the knuckle. the bushing is #33. The knuckle is #2 and 3. So I have two questions:
how do I get this thing out...?
how do I get a new one back in?
Obviously, I don't want to buy and install a whole new knuckle with a bushing in it already, which is $200. But if I ruin the bushing in the process of getting the bolt out, how will I get a new bushing pressed in? And what's the best way to get a sheared bolt out of a bushing like this?

I would try putting a screwdriver or something similar to that and try to hit it out with a hammer. It is kinda hard to see which one you are talking about, but is it the bottom bolt that the strut bolts to?
yes, the bushing is #33, the one that connects the strut to the knuckle. It is situated at the rear back of the knuckle, and I would like to avoid taking the entire knuckle out (there are about 8 other connection points on it). I will try to pound it out with a hammer and punch, but my concern is damaging the bushing in the process.

I seriously doubt that you will damage the bushing. On my 97 Accord there was metal cylinder in between the bushing and the bolt hole. So you would damage that one first before the bushing.
isn't that metal cylinder the inside of the bushing? did you have to knock that out, or did the bolt come free? I assume that's where it's rusted...
The bold just slid out from inside of it. I do have to remember that my car has no rust on it though so it was obviously alot easier for me. Maybe spray some WD40 in there and let it sit for a few min before you attempt to remove the bolt.

Don't be afraid to break stuff on your car. That is the only way that you will learn how to work on cars is if you get in there and not be afraid of breaking things. And if something does break you will know how to fix it the next time something like this happens.

I'm not worried about breaking it - the replacement bushing and bolts are cheap. But if I need a bushing pressed out, my car is undriveable. it will need towed, and then it gets expensive to have a shop finish it. We'll find out tomorrow afternoon!
