ok i have always had this problem with my car even when i had a 8 valve single cam in my hatch some times it wont start only if i let the fuel pump prime, if i turn the key to the half way point when all the lights come on and you can hear the fuel pump work it wont start, but if i just turn the key real fast it starts. people have told me i need to upgrade the fuel pump or its something with the main relay. Has this happened to anyone else?

happened to me. priming on an old pump ***** everything up. i just replaced the fuel pump, relays, injectors, and fuel rail while i was at it, and now it is perfect.

i'd start with a fuel pressure regulator (might as well get an adjustable).. if that doesn't fix it, i'd go with a new fuel pump

also, make sure there are no vacuum leaks and that the vacuum is hooked up to the FPR (fuel pressure regulator)

 

i used a walboro fuel pump with 310cc RC injectors and a B&M fpr.
