brake upgrade Q?
i have a 93 si h/b with 4 wheel disc. and i want to upgrade my brakes, but i dont want to go crazy and spend all that money on a big brake kit. So i guess what i really want to know is besides changeing the pads, fluid, and get ss lines. Is there anything else that i can do that wont kill my pockit?
thanks
thanks
Good pads is all you need.
If you have a stock motor, I don't see what purpose there is to upgrade to a "big brake" kit.
Even SS lines are not that necessary IMO. I don't like my SS lines. I only got them because my old ones were f-ed up and the SS was actually cheaper than OEM.

you can get a master cylinder brace if you want.

pads do make the biggest difference though.

SS Lines are more for pedal feel than any actual performance aspect.
Good fluid, new blanks, and some good pads will be more than enough.

You can also get cross drilled rotors check out brembo they are good and not very expensive http://www.performancecenter.c...hback/ here is a link to some rotor kits

Bzzzzt. Wrong.
All those are going to do is tear up pads more quickly. Blanks are going to better than non cast "cross drilled" rotors. Rotors that are not cast with the holes in them have a tendency to warp and crack.

that's all for show these days. back when brake pads created a pocket of air that forced the pad away from the rotor, cross drilled and/or slotted rotors helped. Now that brake pads have evolved, those rotors are no longer necessary.

Definately look into some good DOT4 fluid.
That's going to make a huge difference in your fade.

this is my brake upgrade (Civic VTi B16A) PowerSlot Brake Rotors (Front) - Goodridge Brake Lines - ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid & Porterfield Carbon Kevlar racing pad R4-S
If you don't have abs you might also consider changing you MC to one from a 91 ex sedan. The larger piston area will give you a firmer pedal and better brake control for autox and the MC will bolt right up to your booster. However, the pedal will be a little more difficult to press.
