Ok i'm getting a gsr front strut bar an need some advice on how to mount it. My car all ready has the holes for it. I know i need bolts washers and nuts. My main questions is this, How should i mount it. Should i thread the bolt from the underside of the fender well and put the nut on the top or thread the bolt through the top and put the nut in the fenderwell. Has anyone done this?

i have done it. the guy i bought it off of hooked me up with the bolts. it doesn't matter which way you tread the screws. he said the bolts were from random honda parts.

 

Anyone else got an idea of what the best way is?

 

just go to home depot and get some bolts and nuts. not hard. costs maybe a dollar. just make sure you get grade 8 bolts/nuts.

 

just put the thred to the top, thats how the factory does it... other than that its REALLY doesnt matter...

 

Dont put the bolt going into the fender well, this will make it harder for you to remove the bar in the future. Do it like factory and when you need to remove the bar ie, swapping, engine work...etc. you can just remove the 4 nuts.

 

so put the bolt through the top and the nut and washers under the fenderwell?

 

nope....put the bolt up form the bottom and put the nuts on top. i used a wrench to hold the bolt on the bottom while i tightened the nut on top with a socket. use a little loctite and you wont have any problems whatsoever. this worked great for me and was a cheap mod (free bar from Scary1109 and $0.52 in nuts and bolts from home depot). good luck.

Ok so i should get grade 8 bolts but what size and how long? Do i put washers on both sides or just under the bolt head?

1" long is plenty , get stainless ones , and put the threads pointing up
