using a head from an engine that spun a bearing
Is it ok to use a head from an engine that spun a bearing? Or should i disassemble hot tank and assemble before using it?
well if your not sure that the head was damaged, don't take the chance, take it apart and inspect it, you don't want to slap it on and find out that somethings bent or damaged. you might not need to hot tank it if its good.
In theory, the head should be fine. I spun a bearing on my B16 and used the head on my ITR block until i got an ITR head. No problems.
yup, I used a GSR head from a motor that spun a bearing on my LS/Vtec and it worked fine. I took it apart and inspected it and everything of course, it looked fine, and it works fine too
Sometimes if its bad enough and the motor was run too long after the bearing was spun you will get metal pieces all through the engine, but I think you can just hot tank it or even clean it yourself.

Well, isn't it just dumb luck whether or not any metal shavings get into the head's oil passageways? Do ya feel lucky? I think I'd disassemble the head & make sure it's clean.
yeah, thats what i figured. For how little effort it would take to disassemble then assemble i think i am going to not take a chance.
Thanks guys
