no vtec and early revlimit problem
Hey guys Im not that good with this stuff so I could use a little help if possible I have a B18C swap in my civic EX the old motor was the D16 Vtec I've had a topic about this before but I think I may have come across some more variables that may result in the 7k revlimit instead of 8200 like it should.
I was looking at my ECU pinout tonight and found that the IAB wire which should have been switched from pin out A20 to A17 wasnt switched so I switched it however it still wont go past 7k... earlier this week i was testing my ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor and one of them only read .01 so I replace it with one I found in the garage it could be bad as well but i havnt got a chance to test it yet.
However following up the A20 to A17 pin switch Im not too sure if I plugged the EVAP solenoid plug under the GSR IM for the IAB it may as well be the plug i plugged in ontop which I think is the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor does anyone know could this cause a early revlimit and no vtec
I have no engine codes to check no loss of power or miss fire there is a distinct exhaust note change at 4400 RPM is that the vtec or secondary

If the ECU was in Limp mode, you would be limited to 3500 RPM.
The ECU limits the RPM at 6500-7000 RPM with no VTEC for 3 possible reasons:
1. It thinks the coolant temperature is below 60oC. (engine cold) (ECT sensor)
2. It thinks the car is doing below 20kph. (car stopped) (VSS)
3. It thinks the VTEC solenoid coil is bust.

I will take a picture of my ECU with my cam phone tonight and post it however I know it does have 2 big letters "AS" and I've noticed alot of my friends in their 5 speeds have "MT" could that mean manual and AS for auto?? Ive swapped P72s with my friends B18C swap and his had MT on it but it wouldnt go past 7k either but that was before I changed the pins from A20 to A17 maybe since the IAB is hooked up now my friends ECU would run properly I'll have to meet up with him again soon...
Tomorrow I will to check my replacement ECT sensor as well to see if its reading more than .01 like my old one. The ECT I put in was one off of a SOHC vtec motor but I think they're all interchangeable right?

so i dont know exactly how to convert the ecu from auto to manual but on a pr3 it is fairly simple.

I used to have an auto ecu and it would do the same thing, once i got a manual ecu i was set
