http://www.turbod16.com is your friend

i do not have boost .. i wish i did .. but for the motor stock id say most ppl are prolly running 6.5/7 psi .. some ppl might be even pushing 10 with a good tune .. a very good tune that is .. but for stock id prolly stay safe with 6psi .. but im sure youd get more responses in the FI board ..

It's true, but your gonna need a damn good tune. I'll be boosting at 9PSI for my DD D16Z6. I'd be more worried about the oil pump problems the Y8 has. Y8's seem to throw the #3 rod and spin bearings early cause of oil clearance issues and oil starvation. I'm sure you'll be fine, but just keep an eye on your oil level and pressure. I am going with a T-25 Talon turbo cause a T3 is going to lag too much and I'll only see boost at much higher rpms. The T-25 has quick spooling time and will provide enough boost up to 12 psi.

I've read that 6 or 7 Lbs is all you want to run on a D16 because the rods are weak.

I'm running the Edelbrock kit (7Lbs) - See my sig page

mine y8 came apart on 10lbs of boost and a 55 shot of nitrous, but 10lbs was all cool with the right plugs and fuel regulator

^^^^ Don't forget that boosting 10 PSI and having a 55 shot of NOS is a lot of power for a stock block. Like he said, if tuned properly and your setup is done well then you will not have a problem .

Hey I have been running up until now SOHC motors @ 10 Psi all day long and i have not ( Knock on Wood) Blown a motor, I think that the Eg is a faster Motor then the ek and better built as well.
Tuning and Ignition timming and you will be fine. Head gasket, head studs and a block gaurd with 10 Psi on an EG SOHC motor With ALL STOCK INTERNALS I ran 13.5 at 103.7 Mph and on pump gas, Dx chassis and full interior.
Either way Good Luck

its more about horsepower than psi. 7psi on a small t25 will make way less power than 7psi on something like a t3/t4. im sure you could put down 200-230 whp on a stock motor with no problems. its all about tuning

Would it not have been safer if the spray was hitting the intercooler? I don't know the answer. Just curious.

are you talking about an intercooler sprayer. they are different because the nitrous doesnt actually get into the combustion chamber it just cools down the charge as it passes through the IC

I know that. Obviously the 55 shot going in to the combustion chamber was too much. I was just saying would the amount of power that it made with the IC sprayer have been too much for a stock block?
