Cant decide on clutch
I will be rebuilding my tranny and replacing the clutch over the winter. Right now there is a Clutch Masters clutch on the car. I called CM to price a replacement disk, and they want $320 just for the disk. ACT has a 6 puck race disk for $110. The only difference is that the ACT is not sprung. Anyone using the ACT? The price sure does sound alot better.
I went to buy an ACT clutch and someone on the phone informed me that it has a used center section that they adapt for reuse.
Needless to say I bought something else
I was not thrilled about reman clutch center sections

just use OEM if you can... keeps the clutch pedal nice and light... </TD></TR></TABLE>
Its a pretty much stock GSR.
Has anyone ever used a CM pressure plate with an ACT clutch disk? I dont see why it would not work as long as the surfaces mate. I've been wrong before though.

If the car is basically stock, why would you want/need to upgrade the clutch?

True. For some reason I thought this was for a street car... is it not?

My mistake. Sorry
I'm running a stock clutch in my ITA CRX and quite like the light pedal feel... when it goes out I plan on replacing it with another stock piece. I can't help but think that the slightly slower engagement of a stock disc along with the sprung center section must be a little more gentle on the tranny bearings and the flywheel/pp.

I'm with you! I have a H4 DC and love the stock clutch! IMO there is no reason (other than to cause more stress on other components) to "upgrade" the clutch in IT based racing...

This crossed my mind also. There are a lot of factors in making a decision. And I have until next year to make one... Atleast I know what parts are going inside the tranny

how long are stock clutches lasting under racing conditions?
The only reason I went aftermarket is clutch life. I burned through my second honda clutch set in less than 50,000 street and autoX miles. The aftermarket has almost 70,000 on it and it still holds well.

The clutch in my ITA car has made it through 3 seasons of racing and feels like it's about due for replacement.
