resetting radio after disconnection battery
1998 Honda Accord
Long story, but we disconnected the battery to get the CEL to clear so the car would pass emissions. Didn't work, but now the radio won't work at all. What should i do? How do I get it to work again?

The radio needs to say "code".... not err 4 or code e or something. If it doesn't say "code".... disconnect the battery again... wait about 5 minutes, and reconnect. It should then say code when you push the power button for the radio. Once you get to that point... turn the radio power off.... hold down preset buttons 1 and 6 with one hand... and push the power button - turning it back on - with the other. The radio should then display a letter and 4 numbers like Uxxxx, then it will display a second set... likr Lxxxx the first four numbers are the first 4 of the serial number, and the second set of four numbers are the second 4.... making a total of 8. The letters mean nothing. Make sense? try this then post your seral number and I'll get you your code
good luck.
good luck.
ERR4 is: "Internal problem with the CD player/changer. Press the eject button and customer's CD. Insert a known good CD into the player/changer. If the problem recurs, replace the CD player/changer."
At some point I had downloaded a .pdf of the Honda radio codes. If you want, pm me with your email address and I'll email it to you (it's 283 KB and in .pdf format), but ERR4 is as shown above. It's Honda's Service Bulletin 00-015, dated March 14, 2000 and applies to "All with CD Player/Changer".
If you do need a new radio, consider a new Alpine. You can pick up a nice MP3 playing Alpine head unit for ~ $260 (less if you want a more basic model).

Cute, but of absolutely no help to the original poster. She's not looking for the radio code, she's wanting to know what a particular error message means.

well I thank so. The computer screen is kinda messed up and you can't really see it you can only see little parts of the numbers. So I was just wanting to know if there was a number that I could just enter it and do it that way????
