Default Distributor Problems, Distributor King doesn't work?

I have order now 2... yes TWO distributor king dizzy's, and will have to return them both! ( AS an aside I would like to say they have been soo very nice to me in this process) But my stock Dizzy was making crackling noises and the R wouldn't redline without sputtering anymore, so I order a new dizzy.

Well upon install my Tach stopped working... I put the old one back on and the Tach worked fine... but after 2 King Dizzy's I know its got to be something with the OEM vs Dizzy King thats keeping my Tach from working... I am getting tuned soon so I would like to have my Tach working, even though I won't need it.....

I am not familiar with doing any work on distributors, but I guess I will have to take apart the OEM one and see if I can fix it.. Anyone have any ideas or advice?

chances are something else might be wrong unless its just dumb luck that both didnt work for you.

I'm guessing it's something else wrong...is it the stock tach that stops working?

Are you sure there isn't a pin loose in the connection to the dizzy?

Have you tried any other solutions? Borrow a dizzy from someone else's R?

Jeff - who loooooooves dizzy king

I have a Dizzy King in my R and a Dizzy King in my crx. I had to send the crx dizzy back for a replacement because one of the pin-outs was not secure. It was a major PITA to diagnose why my engine was sputtering, and I replaced the entire engine harness before I determined that the dizzy wiring was defective.

Try to re-tighten and smear some dialectic grease on your coil & ignitor connection (your OEM distributor)....see if that helps any.

It sounds like there is something else wrong, other then your dizzy.

no its def the dizzy guys... Tach was working fine with the busted Dizzy till I put the new one on... If I PUT the OLD ONE back on, the tach works again... its weird..

However with the Dizzy King ones, when I start the car cold, the tach needle goes up for a split second then drops down to nothing.... Kinda weird.. I am soo lost haha

I've sold around 20 Dizzy King distributors the past two years, and not once have I heard about anyone with this problem, or any other for that matter. I am not saying that it isnt true or not a genuine problem - but if you tried with two units - its more likely that you are using the wrong kind.

im not sure if your car is a 00-01.
i believe the tach signal is setup different between a obd2a to obd2b.
look into it, wiring diagrams perhaps.

Its a 2000, but I have talked to the guy at Dizzy King like 4 times now and he has confirmed that I have the right one... Even though on the site it says the Dizzy is good for 00 AND 01... I don't know whats going on. I might try buying one from pep boys and see if it works...
