like the title says.. I am interested in learning to weld cause I would like to fabricate my own parts as need such as a turbo manifold cat etc. etc.. I was looking at mig welders but could you guys tell me or point me into the right direction as in concerns of what to look for and also does the quality or power output in the welder decrease the durability in what your fabricating???????????????????????????????????????

the miller is great but too expensive for most; i paid about that much (after taxes) for my 185 amp lincoln at lowes and it came with a cart grinder and a bunch of other ****.

If you are just starting out you need to factor in more that just the welder. You will need a good helmet, sheilding gas and tank, wire, gloves, cart, etc...

I personally have a Millermatic 175 and it cost me a decent amount of money to have a setup I feel that will last me a while and be happy with.

thanks alot your right... I have factored in all this and besides the price of the supplies and accessories I would like to spend 400-450 on the welder... I want to get an idea cause I am a really hands on type of guy and doing my own welding and fabricating is the top of my list
