Tranny grinds after 5krpms, what fluid should I try? H22A
My h22a tranny grinds after vtec engagement, Id like to try changing the fluid before I go to the track this sunday. Any suggestions? Synchromesh? What weight?

This stuff worked out great for me, thought I believe it really is just thicker oil as I've been told. Correct me if I am wrong please, I wouldn't like to give out false information.
Anyways, I used this stuff on my H23A transmission and has yet to fail me. I do it about every 3rd oil change. Which is about every 10k miles. Also, autozone is where I pick it up as well.

actually, it is a thinner weight oil, which makes the tranny shift smoother.
i wouldn't recommend it for healthy trannies since it won't protect like the proper spec MTF would, but once you've got a grind, SM will help.
SM works by facilitating more friction, thereby helping synchros get up to speed faster and lead to smoother shifts. problem is, in high-demand situations the friction is exactly what's killing your tranny, slowly.
so, i think the general rule is:
healthy no grind tranny = Honda MTF
not quite so healthy, may need a rebuild at some point tranny = GM SM
there are 3 varieties of SM. the GM SM, the GM SM Friction Modified, and the Pennzoil SM.
as far as i know, the Pennzoil and the GM SM are the same fluid (the penzoil is half the price of the GM SM), and the GM SM FM (heh) is even thinner than the garden variety SM and a synthetic basestock oil. i could be wrong about the GM SM FM's viscosity though...
