Default window tinting

anyone knows of a good place in Houston to get windows tinted? Also, what would be good tint for a black car? Titanium (Llumar) tint or traditional black?

Titanium looks REALLY nice on a black car...or almost any car for that matter.

I believe this is 35% llumar. It's pretty reflective during the day...but at night you don't really notice it.

i like titanium tint.. it looks nicer IMO than just black... i know of some people that layer it.. like put a really light VLT black tint.. and then titanium.. it gives a nice reflective look but isnt as "bright" that looks nice too.. dont know if it'll last/stay though after a few yrs..

the way we refer to it over here is:- 30% tint means the glass lets in 70% light (thats our legal limit, but cops wont say anything unless you have 70% or higher)

it is, 30% tint means 30% of the light will go through, NOT 70%

That is correct, sir.

5% means that 95% of light hitting the tint film is blocked by the tint film
15% means that 85% of light is blocked
etc....

i got the second lightest mirror tint on my blue teg, it looks really nice. id post a pic up but my scanner isnt plugged in. you've probably seen my car around houston. just look for an integra that looks like electron blue except a few shades lighter. id recommend master audio and alarm (i think thats their name). DONT GO TO A-1. those f*ck sticks dont know a damn thing when it comes to tint. they f*cked up bad on mine. they left bubbles, and when the bubbles went away the tint had outlines of the bubbles that went away. plus my car smelled like window cleaner for 2 weeks cause the bastards got the spray every where in my car. i really wouldnt go to A-1, theyre a bunch of ******** that try ripping you off at any given chance.

yeah here they go by VLT (visible light transmission) %.. the lower the % the darker it is.. the less light shines thru... a 5% VLT would be pitch black...

Yeah, that's how it's measured here. I have 6% on my integra and its near impossible to see in, and at night, it is impossible to see in.

LOL. why is it so hard for everyone to understand tint %?

There is only 3 types of %
Legal Front 30%
Legal Rear 20%

Illegal is 5% (limo)

Now the difference when everyone says "I got 13%, 6%, is the shade of the tint

There is the flat (cheapest) and the rest depending on what the shop calls it

No its not...the tints stops 30% of the light getting in.. so therefore 70% light is allowed in..its quoted in the regulations for tinting here in europe...30% tint is the max allowable by law...may sound a little backwards but thats whats written in the regulations

Whatever the percent of the tint, that is how much light is allowed to pass through the tint. Period. End of discussion. Stupid **** like this should be on SHO
