4-2-1 vs 4-1 header
The BASIC explanation is:
4-1 header gives you high end power.
4-2-1 header gives you low/mid end power.
That's the basic idea. There are also lots of instances in which the header design (piping, length, collector size/design, etc) play a role in it's performance. But I'm assuming you just want the basic idea.
