Oil consumption with forged pistons???
What is your experiences? What oil consumption people have with forged pistons? I've heard it's high, but i wonder how much...
Can you share your experience with it?
thanks.

Forgive me, as I forgot some of the technical details regarding this issue.
Some colder pistons require them to be under high heat for them to be under operating temperatures. Lots of race pistons are like this. Before they expand to normal operating temperatures, the tolerances will be quite low (or high, depending on how you say it). You could lose some oil during warm up.
I believe it has something to do with the silicone content. Not all forged pistons are this way. I believe this is one of the main differences between the two JE ones. Regular JE, and SRP. JE is colder. SRP has more stock characteristics.
I hope more people chime in on this so I can learn some more too. It's been a while.

Arias pistons are like this. They take around 180 degrees to be at optimum performance. You can hear the piston slap when you first warm them up. I have had piston reps that told me that who ever said there is a difference in compression from cold to normal operating temp. is banging there head. Well he and whoever thinks this is wrong!! I checked it first hand yesterday. My pistons are the new inverted wave dome arias 9.5:1. Compression check with the car sitting for a week read as follows 150-145-145-155. After normal operating temps new reading 180-180-180-185. 40 percent leakdown - 4% leakdown , well the valves expanding during heat plays to factor as well too. Motor has already been broke in. Yes the car can burn alittle oil during initial cold start up. Helps if you use 20-50 non synthetic for the first 2000 miles. This will help oil consumption during the cold start up process.
Hope this helps.
