OBD2 Motor, want to convert it to OBD1, for an OBD1 car. How?

Default OBD2 Motor, want to convert it to OBD1, for an OBD1 car. How?

Done a search but i dont think this particular swap is common in the States since you guys have smog legalities etc.

The rundown:

I have a genuine JDM RHD EG9 Civic SiR. The car is OBD1 and is currently running an OBD1 B16a. I have the opportunity to buy a OBD2 B18c however i want to convert this motor to OBD1 so I can use it with my stock OBD1 wiring and chipped JDM P30.

How exactly do I convert the OBD2 B18c to OBD1? Can i just put my ODB1 dizzy on and transfer the OBD1 injectors from my B16a? What about the alternator? Can i just tranfer it over?

Remember we don't have those smog rules or whatever. Just want to run the OBD2 motor on OBD1 wiring harness and ECU.

you got the right idea you need to use the b16's engine harness as well as it's distributor the only thing i can think of that needs to be done other than that is wiring for the butteryfly's on the intake manifold otherwise just get a aftermarket intake hope this helps some -tim

So running an OBD2 motor with OBD1 SiR harness will only mean changing the dizzy an wiring up IAB? I heard the injectors or the plugs themselves were different also. Apart from that will the OBD2 motor plug straight into the ODB1 loom?

yes the injectors for obd2 have different clips just use the obd1 b16a injectors with the b16a obd1 harness and dizzy

...so in conclusion to your question, you need to swap these parts from your B16A engine over to the OBD2 B18C engine in order for it to run:

- dizzy
- alternator
- injectors
- wire harness
- wire in the IAB's unless you go with a Skunk2 or AEBS Type-R style intake manifold for GSR head.

Sorry to drag this thread back up. I've encountered another issue. I've been told that OBD2 B18c motors dont have a vtec oil pressure switch. How do i get around this?

only the JDM OBD2 B-series engines have no VTPS.

If your B18C doesn't have one, then there's an easy fix for this. All you have to do is tap the VTPS power wire to the VT Solenoid wire, then take the VTPS ground wire and ground it to the body of the VT Solenoid.

If there's a green plug protruding from your VT Solenoid, then you have a VTPS.

yes, the crank sensor located on the oil pump is the CKF sensor. Although, this CKF sensor is only on US OBD2 engines, not sure if theres a CKF sensor on New Zealand OBD2 honda's...

nonetheless, you don't need to worry about it if you're using an OBD1 ecu, it doesn't look for this sensor.

No, just plug in the jumper harness and the obd1 ecu and your good to go.
