quaife LSD installation problem
I just installed my quaife LSD into my 92 GSR's YS1 tranny and I'm having problems with it binding up when I put it back together. I got new bearings for the diff., everything else is being put together as it was taken apart. My first thought was that it was the shim for the diff., but I took the shim out all together and it still binded up. Note by binded up I mean I can't turn the input shaft or the axle output shafts with my hand. I was able to turn the input shaft by hand before I first opened the tranny up. If I put the clutch disc on for leverage I am able to turn it. Any ideas, or is this normal?
Thanks
Thanks
Hmmmmmm. Try this
remove the main and counter shaft gear assembly and re assemble the case with just the diff. does it still bind? if not, its not the diff bearings or final drive gear. Check to see that the bearings and speedo sensor gear are properly mounted on the Quaife.
Then try installing the main and counter gears without the diff. Do they turn and can you shift into every gear?
Something obvoiously is binding but i'm sure you will figure it out with a little study.
