Default Key loss while driving?

Ok here ggoes. I have a 99 Accord 2.3l vtec coupe, 5spd mnl, 300,000km.

Every so often my car dies while I'm driving. I don't mean stalls. I mean everything electric dies. I have been doing 100km/hr on the freeway and this has happennned. When this occurs my tach and speedometer are dead even though I am still in gear and happily motoring along at hwy speeds. While this happens the grn key lamp on the instrument cluster flashes. This is not as big a problem as one would suspect because I simply have to turn the key back a bit and then fwd and bump start the car.
It appears that maybe the ignition key is some how coming out of position and telling the car the key is out? Has anyone else had this problem?
I am interested if this another faulty Honda part.
What exactly is that grn flashing key symbol telling me?

Yup, here's the 'Official' Version:

NHTSA Recall Campaign Number: 02V120000

Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH

Details: ON CERTAIN SEDANS, COUPES, HATCHBACKS, AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAN DEGRADE DUE TO THE HIGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED.

Consequence: WORN CONTACTS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Corrective Action: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 14, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

Units Potentially Affected: 1000000

Recall Initiated By: MFR
Date added to NHTSA datbase: 05/20/2002
Internal use: 5/20/2002

Called 2 dealers here in Toronto and all their service reps said my VIN # wasn't on the recall list. I contacted the parts manager at a 3RD dealer and he happily informed me that VIN # was on the recall list.
Turns out when they type the VIN # in their computer a central data base tells them no warranty was available even though the parts guys had been mailed a hard copy of the recall notice. The parts guy straightened it out with the service guys and I had my ignition warrantied.
Conspiracy theory?
How many people like me call the service guys only to be told their car isn't under warranty? An honest computer glitch? Probably a meddling bean counter at work me thinks.
I love this website. So much useful information. Thank you all!!!!

Probably a couple of Anglophiles pissed off about you getting the 'skinny' from the Lower 48
Just kidding, we've a great French-Canadian Populace in RI.
When you can come up with things like:
"Hey, you kids, next time you go through my yard, go around!"
and
"Side by Each"
and
'Mr Conroy, throw up the hatch my binoculars please"
How can you not love 'em??

You're right thou, 1 (one) out of 3 (three) trys at getting it right is not good.

My dealer replace mine, no question as a matter of fact MY canister release valve went out, I took it to the dealer the mechanic replaced it and said it was under warranty, I went to pick it up and they told me a total I told them they were wrong. They said that The mechanic was wrong and I would need to speak with the manager. The manager took a really long time, I normally would have gotten mad but I was watching ATHF in the waiting room. If he said I had to pay for it I would have told him to kiss my *** I didn't want the part changed unless it was free. So he never even came in I went back up to the desk and told them to figure it out because I have to go soon. SO she went to talk to the manger and said okay and gave me took off the canister valve and gave me a 15% discount on the the other things I had done.

Cliffs My dealer screwed up and I got a discount and a free part.
