its weird, I did a search btw, my car is hard to get into first second third fourth and fifth with the car is on but when it is off it is fine. So i started the car in first and it moved without any freaking gas. If i start it in neutral and try to put it in reverse with the clutch all the way down, it grinds so i have to turn the car off, put it in reverse and start it from there. So if i am driving in first, i can put it into second, thrid, fourth and fifth, it just takes a lot of gusto to do it. So i pulled over and checked my clutch cylinder and it was very low, like to the point to where you could see the spout, so i filled it up. Then i drove again, it was the same symptoms, but what is weird is after a while it is fine, like after 20 minutes of in 5th gear highway driving. Any ideas? Btw the car is a 97 d16y7 with a y8 tranny and a greddy turbo at 7psi, i dont rag on the car at all, in fact i boost less than 3 times a month.

 

well if it is lurging when you start it in gear with no gas, tells me your clutch isnt working right.

and if it grinds instead of going into gear when you are sitting still, tells me your clutch isnt working right.

i went out there again and it is fine now? ill have to see if it only happens in cold weather.

 

well to me it sounds as if you need to bleed the clutch. cause you said that it was low. you might have air in the line and that might be the prob. still if its alright id gravity bleed it.

ok i tried it again this morning and it wouldnt go into gear until the car had warmed up, I am going to try to bleed the clutch in the next couple of days and see how it goes

 

My guess would be to bleed it as well, there are not too many things that can cause the clutch not to fully disengage and this is the most common of them.

 

yeah my biggest clue to that was when i started noticing it, i checked my clutch fluid reservoir and it was very very low, any good tips on bleeding it?

 

Tips? Do it more then once, and have a friend help.
