I was under the impression that it was only for obd2 cars, but yea my 94 ls only had an o2 sensor in the exhaust manifold

The early GS-R's had the primary O2 located in the cat before the catalyst material. You are correct though that only OBD2 cars had secondary O2 sensors at the rear of the cat after the catalyst.
