Default 01 Honda Accord EX Hesitates

My car hesitates or cuts off when I stop or put in drive. It doesn't matter if I just start it up or have been driving all day. Then sometimes there's no hesitation at all. I have changed the O2 sensor already but still having the same problem. I have read something about the K&N air filters causing problems with the MAF sensor is that true? I'm getting the error code P0170/171

I think that's the transmission code. If it is, your tranny is gone. Sorry.

On the 7th gen, that code is for fuel to lean. first thing to check would be fuel pressure. Don't know if the codes are the same for 6th gen or not.

If it's p0171 that would be correct.

Yes, the Haynes book said it is System Adapative fuel too lean. If the fuel pump is going bad would that give me the hesitstion?

More likely the pressure regulator. You would have to check the pressure. There is a place on the fuel rail to connect a guage to. I could not find a guage that I could hook up to it though. When I was trying to check mine.

Honda presure regulators rarely go bad. When they do they usually leak causing a rich condition.

I told him to check the pressure. Mine ended up being the fuel pump, but it would'nt run at all.

I fixed the problem. It was the K&N air filter I was using, the excess oil got on the MAF sensor. I replaced the filter with a paper one and it's working fine.
