? for california people
Although it would be technically legal to swap in an "K" motor, I think the reason you don't hear about it is due to the fact that you would also have to convert the car to OBD2. I don't know the specifics, but it seems like something people avoid at all costs.

To be a little more specific,
1.) you will need the engine to be the same year or newer
2.) all the smog equipement must be present and match the year of the car or be NEWER(ie: no ODB I in a chassis that has OBD II), and must be for California smog requirements. You can have JDM, but you must add any necessary components.
3.) you must take it to the ref
4.) your engine cannot be stolen
5.) I *think* you can only put passenger car engines in a passenger car, so no big-rig Peterbuilt turbo-deisels or turbines.
