cant get car running please help

just finished changing the headgasket...got everything wired up correctly but it dies when u give it gas
start the car
it idles at like 1,000
surges between 1200-1000-800 rpm really lightly
give the car gas and it will rev up but only when you barely give it throttle
when u go to give the car full throttle the car dies completely
what the hell?

This could be so many things. Did you find TDC with the white crank mark when you installed the cams? Perhaps your fuel pressure is low (clogged filter). How did the car run before the headgasket was changed? Why did the headgasket need to be changed?

timing has been checked and it looks right
the car ran fine before the headgasket was changed it was changed because it was blown
it was been down for about 2 weeks.....sitting in the air on jack stands....could the fuel filter clog from sitting at an angle like that for so long?

You can either obtain a fuel pressure guage to check the pressure or just replace the filter. That may be the problem. (Fuel filters can clog without rhyme or reason, if you get a bad tank of gas.) Does the exhaust have any unusual odor?

never took the plug wires off the distributor so yes they are correct, the lines on this car are self explanitory because everything is the lnegth to where it goes so its really easy..it has to be something stupid iam missing

It allways is.... I would double check all of the lines anyways. One might of got pulled off when moving stuff around. Maybe a line got ripped by mistake??
Did you remove the IM??? Could you have a leak there?? If you think it is a leak you could let the car idle and spray carb cleaner(??) around where you think the leak might be. The carb cleaner (?) will speed the idle up.
Double check on the carb cleaner, It might be something else like, i cant remember.
