Default LS crank in a VTEC?

Ive heard of putting an LS crank in a VTEC and picking up bottom end power, but Im not sure if its worth it. Has anyone done it before, and how much time, effort, and money will it set me back?

LS has a Longer stroke so yes you will gain low end torque..is it worth it?...it all depends on what you think of it....but your displacement would be higher, and your compression will go up!

Yea but compression being raised will only be marginal though because its not that much of a displacement increase, right?

you forget that the ls crank isnt as balanced as the gsr and type r tranny... it isnt designed to be reved up to 8-9k rpms..

although it can be revved up that high it wont last.

hmmm...i dont want to be an *** about this...but it has been covered...searching would've been a whole lot better...as a matter of fact there was a thread on here not to long ago about this issue...but to answer some of your questions...yes the ls crank in the gsr block is a good idea for more torque...more balancing to the ls crank will safely rev it to 8k and with the gsr block girdle to keep the crank in position better you can rev it higher and longer...just my .02c...if i'm mistaken correct me...

the LS crank isnt the weak link of an lsvtec....the ls rod bolts are...

you could spin the crank to 10k and it will hold up.....the rest of the motor..probably not

the ls crank does have a long stroke but high rpm wise i wouldnt recommed it. my brother has a ls/vtec turbo set-up, and its been running strong. He shifts at 8800, so its pretty good...
