Default bleeding clutch - HELP

so i put in a new master cylinder and want to bleed it. this is how i'm doing it:

1.have assistant pump pedal a bunch of a time and push it to the floor and let it sit there.
2.i crack open the bleed screw. wait 5 seconds or so and close it
3.person pulls pedal back up
4.repeat from step 1

problem is, NOTHING comes out of the bleeder screw. i swear it's broken. if i pop the screw to the line coming in the slave cylinder then fluid comes out. can i bleed using the screw on the line or must i use the bleeder screw?

when I did it I went as fast as I could.

Process:
pump
bleed
pump
bleed
5x

then fill res.

I'm not sure why you don't have anything coming out unless your pedal is adjusted wrong or something

P.S. I didn't bench bleed.

I didint bench bleed either. I bought a vacum pump from autozone for $30 and simply sucked the fluid through from the bleeder valve.

according to the instructions from the new master cylinder, you don't bleed it. i just installed it and tried to bleed the slave cylinder with no results.

Does the pedal stay on the floor when you press the clutch in? I would guess so.
Does the Res lower when you are pumping?

I read somewhere that if you have the Clutch pedal too tight it won't allow fluid to move threw the MC with the pedal out. I don't know if that is your problem. This person had a problem w/ the fluid heating up and pressurizing. This caused the clutch to slip.

When I bleed my clutch I used a whole large bottle of DOT 4.

when you mean to tight, are you saying that the pedal is at to high of a height or to low of a height? fluid must move out of the master cylinder b/c when i bleed it with the other screw on the slave cylinder, fluid comes out. just the bleeder screw doesn't work.

also, i have NO pressure in the clutch, it just drops to floor. i was bleeding it for about 45 minutes and got nothing.

I'm not sure I understand. Is there two bleed screws on the slave? Sorry its been about 6mo. since I replaced my MC.

Bleeding the clutch is a big bitch. It sounds like the bleeder nipple is broken. For me there was no improvement for about 1/4 - 1/2 the bottle, then it really improved fast. There is no reason to pump the pedal. Just press, bleed, close, lift, press, bleed, close, lift.... Make sure the res. dosen't go dry. After you can get it to gravity bleed then its really pretty easy.

On the clutch adjustment. Its the adjustment on the MC rod. The height of the pedal dosen't really have alot to do with it. The height is adjusted by the pedal stop/switch. The height has more to do with the total travel of the MC.

i know there is only one bleeder screw on the slave cylinder. but i was using the other screw on the slave cylinder b/c the bleeder screw didn't work at all. the screw i was using has the line coming in to the slave cylinder i believe.

best way is to get a peice of hose to go over your bleeder nipple get a full bottle of brake fluid stick the other end of the hose to the bootom of the brak efluid open the nipple and pump away then close the nipple and try the clutch you can do this by your self

That is a good tech if you have alittle air in the slave cylinder, but the MC has pumped alot of air into the system. If you can get the thing to gravity bleed then you can do this tech. Just what ever you do check the res alot.

Yonk, have you taken the bleeder off to look at it? There could be something stuck in it.

ok, it's bled. here is what i've determined: since i put in a new master cylinder a LOT of air was ingested into the system. as a result, there was NO pedal pressure. which means, the bleeder screwer won't work b/c there is not enough pressure to push the fluid out. this is what i did:

push the pedal to the floor. open the bleeder valve a LOT. since the valve was open so much, the fluid just poored out of in between the threads on the bleeder screw.(since no fluid would actually go through the bleeder). i then did this enough time so i get a little pressure in the pedal. once i get some pressure, i bled it the way h22 civic said. (now that fluid actually came out the bleeder hole).

it's fixed and operates like normal. thanks for the help guys.
