Default Question about ignition key tumbler replacement... Please help.

I bought my car as a theft recovery vehicle and the key tumbler for the ignition was busted out so all it is, is the actual switch. I can turn it with my finger... What I need to know is what all do I need to get to replace it. Ive heard that I need an ENTIRE new steering column with the tumbler still in it. Anyone know? Thanks!
