ball joint help!!!
Well I was changing out both front axles on my 92 hatch 5spd and the rubber boot on the ball joint ripped on the drivers side as well as the one on the bottom of the rotor. I took them off and waiting for Honda to get the new ones in. I took it off fairly easy because it was held on by a piece of wire looping around the top portion of the rubber boot. Is it as easy to put it on as it was to take it off? What kind of grease should I use? Another problem was that, on the passenger side, when I tried to put the nut back onto the ball joint, the bolt on the ball joint twists with the nut. I know it's not suppose to do that! Is there something wrong? Or am I missing something. Help me out guys!!!

When this happens to me I try and put some prying force on the nut to try and pull the balljoints shaft towards the ground. Use just enought force to get the nut to spin with out the shaft. Usally as the nut gets tighter the force of the lower control arm on the ball joint shaft is enough to keep it from spinning. If you have an impact gun handy that will usally work the best.
BTW you can't you find the boots at your local auto parts store?

No I couldnt find the boots. I went to Napa, Kragen, and Autozone, all they had were universal ones, and I didnt want to take the risk using those. Two friends of mine are mechanics at Honda so I got a really good price on them anyways, but the boots wont be in until Wednesday, and that sucks big time! I'll probably have them take a look at it when they drop it off to me.
