Default Signs a turbo needs a rebuild?

My Precision SC61 has a good bit of miles on it now.I just want to know what signs to look for when it is time for a rebuild. I know once the seals go out, the car will smoke alot, but is there anything else? My car is down, and I would rather have it rebuilt now if it needs it. Never got any smoke or anything before it was removed, it does have shaft play, which concerns me. Any advice would be helpul.

well there supposed to be able to jiggle a little but if the shaft moves around a lot then that may be a concern.
