Is this K24 salvagable? (broken mounts - welding expertise requested)
Hey guys,
Ran across this fairly cheap K24 longblock and i've been thinking about all week, finally saw it today and apparently "broken motor mount" was a bit of an underestimate... I would really appreciate your expertise in the manner.
First, is this repairable? If it is, is it worth $1000? And even if it was, what do you think an aluminum welder would charge to get it back to shape?

I appreciate your time.

You should appreciate YOUR time...that will take a LOT of it.
My guess is the entire valvetrain will have to be replaced, the crank may be bent, the block more than likely leaks. Maybe $100, but never $1000

Guess I was a little too excited to see it to realize the car was probably rolled 36 thousand times and dumped in a lake
Poor TSX. Thank you for your advice. The search continues

dude i would not pay a 1000 for that block.. christ i have 2 k24 block that ARN'T damaged that i haven't even been able to sell. don't buy a fucked block you will be paying for it in the long run.
i guess you should have made this post a little bit sooner, i just sold my k24, complete from oil pand to valve cover, and from intake manifold to exhaust manifold, it had a blown headgasket, but i let it go for 450.....oh well better luck next time, i wouldnt even waste my time with that motor....its not even that old of an engine, and it already looks like its been to hell and back!!
wow, I'd say get it just to practice welding on, cuz I would never trust that POS in my car. Youd have to pull off the lower block and timing chain cover to see if its salvageable or not. I got my complete CRV motor for 700 FYI.
Side note: what is a good alloy to use in welding honda Blocks? I could go for some accessorizing on mine

I would tell the guy you will take it for free since it is taking up storage space.
