i bought a Magnaflow cat OBD2 compliant, part number 43036. it is on a Mugen 4-1 header with 2.5 collector coming from an ITR to a RS*R cat-back. alright now that you know all the aspects of it on with the problem.
the other day i was driving this car and started to hear a rattle sorta sound. i thought it was just a bolt loose or something on the exhaust. so i tighten everything up and its still there. i decided to take the cat off and look at it. the honeycomb inside the cat was loose and could be slid back and forth inside the cat. so i had no choice but to gut it seeing as how this was my only car at the time. i dont know if this was bad move or not cause i want them to honor their warranty. does anyone know if they still will? has anyone else had this problem? thanks for any help.
it sounds like **** now too. all hollow and raspy.

Your warranty is history now.
I could see Magnaflow making the assumtion that you bought the cat for it's CA OBDII compliance certification and just broke out the catalyst to make it "like" a test pipe. Even with the catalyst breaking up like you describe you then broke the rest of the cat up, you destroyed the evidence. I'm sorry but you made a bad move.

i had no other choice, my other car was sitting with no suspension on it and no parts to fix it at the time. if they want their cat back i will sweep it into a box and give it to them.

"A rattle sorta sound?" Is it that critical? Is it so critical to fix the "rattle sorta sound" that you void the warranty on a $150 product? You're an idiot.

yes it is that critical to avoid shooting the pieces of the cat when it starts to break up into my 500 dollar exhaust. why didnt i just leave it and ruin 2 things? how ignorant of me.
also like i have stated previously, this was my only car at the time and i had to do something to be able to drive home to my wife and child. you are an idiot, and your post didnt help my question at all, so therefore was not needed. douche bag.

Of course my post didn't help you. And neither will any body else's post on HT. Why? Because this is the Honda-Tech message forum. This is NOT the Magnaflow message forum. Why don't you stop being lazy and call them!
dude i think your being a bit dramatic here. your not feeding the cat into a turbo its just an exhaust that probably is all straight though. any loose peices would just shoot out the back.
and these guys are right, i dont know what the point of your thread is. no one is gonna honor a warranty on an item that was destroyed. move on.
