I have a jdm h22 and my idle acts real funny at times. When I am driving, it sometimes decides to jump up and down. Also, when I put the key into the ignition and turn it (without turning the car on) it will sometimes show the rpm's not being at 0. This really sucks because my rpms will sometimes show higher than what they really are. What can this be?

 

Hey bump for this guy. I don't know - but i'm anxious to hear some opinions.

 

Sounds like the idle air control valve.. you may want to take it off and try cleaning it...

 

the jumping idle can be anything vaccum related including all the stuff on you throttle body. If you have a leak it can cause a jumping idle.

the tach thing kinda sounds like a dizzy thing. but Im not sure if that has anything to do with your other problem. and just so you know at higher rpms all honda (mostly all) tachs are not acurate. ask anyone with an aftermarket.

 

the idle bouncing has already been covered a billion times....

your rpm issue is most likely the unit inside the distributor....but it is possible that your guage is acting up for some reason....i would check the dizzy first...

the helms will tell you all this though....

 

Is the rpms actually bouncing up and down or just the tach?

 

its just the tach. the car does not accelerate or deccelerate on its own.

 

i would say the dizy is the problem. more specific the ignitor i believe

 

yeah thatz what i would say too.... i thought you meant the idle was going up and down not just the tach....
