Which would you pick? JDM or USDM Type-R Engine?

but anyway, if your plannin to get the WHOLE JDM thing, you'd need something else (i'm a noob sorry, i just do a lot of reading) because the JDM is RHD and you know how it is =X

he isnt converting his car to rhd he just needs to put an engine & tranny in. if ur not in this damn place called california i would go with the jdm type r engine

I don't think there's any difference in the paperwork. Your car will use the VIN that the shell has. Although it would be a good idea to make multiple copies of the sales receipt for the motor, and keep a copy in the car or in your wallet, I don't think it's going to be a particular problem.
I would have a slight preference for a 98+ JDM motor, but if the USDM motor is available at a substantial savings I would go that way.
I'd only have a slight preference for the 98+ JDM motor because you aren't really going to be completely sure of the mileage and how it's running, and you're not going to be able to resist the temptation to start modifying it right away, hence virtually negating most of the paper advantage of the JDM motor.
