Max Torque for STOCK Headbolts? EMERGENCY

Default Max Torque for STOCK Headbolts? EMERGENCY

Ok Well I open my engine up expecting to find some nice ARP Headstuds as the seller told me and what do i find???

SOME TYPE OF STOCK HEADBOLT !!


So I have ARPs on the way but need to drive the car tomorrow so i was wondering the max torque these bolts will take before they strip or break.... can i torque them to 70 ft/lbs?? More?

If its taht big of an emergency I would not take the risk of over torquing them. You could end up with a worse problem if you do.

Will the car not drive ok out of boost?

it drives ok out of boost, but it has a wandering idle since the head lifts in boost putting air in the coolant.

so your saying dont go over 65ft/lbs (where im at now)?

stock studs are 61-63ft lbs Iw oudlnt go tighter then that... remember with arps you are tightening a nut ...stockers you are tightening a bolt that can strip the htreads alot easier and then you will be fubar
