Default which 90-91 b series tranny is best?

I have a LS (S1) tranny right now, and I hate it for acceleration past second gear. I dont want to go back to the B16 tranny, bc its just too damn short up top. Is there another tranny thats kind of in the middle? sort of like how the 92-93 gsr tranny is btwn the ls and b16 tranny of the big spline generations.

I was going to just get another jdm S1 trany andswap my 5th gear into it, but mistabone told meit would feel absolutely shitty going into 5th. Would be a massive rpm drop. I guess kinda like skipping a gear on upshifts.

TIA!

there is no intermediate trans like there is on 94 and up integra's

the 92-93 GSR trans is actually SHORTER than the B16 trans. I suggest that you make a custom trans if you are really wanting to get rid of the crappy gearing. But that takes some know how.......and I know how

I am guessing that you are not wanting to loose out on that clutch that you bought a while back.

that clutch is slipping and I just bought a 6 puck clutch specialties and 8 lb flywheel. Going in this weekend. The clutch wouldnt slip if I werent boosted though. oh well, maybe I'll sell it to someone for real cheap.

Tell me what you know.

well remember, I told you to get the better pressure plate (3200lb instead of 2200lb)......but what do I know

but hey, it lasted a while and you got more than your money's worth and it still usable to this day.

if you need help getting your trans together or getting a new one built let me know....I am a short drive away in Charleston

I am using a Y1 with a swapped in LS 5th gear. I get 27mpg per tank with 202whp and i think some that can be attributed to the 5th gear. Honestly the rpm drop is defintely noticeable but who gives, just shift it and let the rpm drop for a half second longer. It is fine for me, and i can cruise at 70mph barely above 3k rpms.

hell yea it lasted a while. IT's been over a year. Got it at a good price, so I dont really mind. I might keep it for my next b series swap. When I get to teh point of creating a frankenstein tranny, I'll give you a holler and we can meet up and discuss this thing.
