hybrid tranny: Ls & b16 tranny
is there anyway to combin the 2 trannies to have the best of both world.. freeway + close gear ratio... a long 5th gear would seem kinda weird (with close 1, 2, 3, 4th gear)
maybe a b16 tranny with Ls final drive? what would that do?

Just get a 99 SI tranny, they came with 4.266FD(LS has this FD).
If I can find the link, I'll post it for you with all tranny gear ratios.

See, the problem is, those are hydro trannies... I'm pretty sure the internals aren't interchangeable between the S1/J1 trannies and any USDM tranny, else it would be possible to rebuild the former.

How can u tell the difference visually from a cable LS and a cable JDM GSR tranny? I dontb know which one my car has.
ive heard that JDM trannies dont have stamp[ed numbers on them, is there any other way to tell.

here check the link.... i took some pics comparing my JDM S1 cable trans to my 93 GSR YS1 trans. really this is just comparing 89-91 trannies to 92-93 trannies. i have more pics of the bell housings, etc but i havent been able to locate them.
