Changing The Alternator in a EF ***URGENT NEED HELP***
So I am in the middle of changing the alternator. I have all the wires disconnected from it and all the bolts out. Now it's just stuck inside the bay. It either hits the Alternator mount or the Oil filter when I try and take it out. How the hell do I get it out of there. Thanks for the help
This may sounds strange but ut works:
You have to jack the car up and remove the front driver's side wheel. Then you have to remove at least one of the 2 bolts holding the alternator bracket to the engine. You should only have to loosen the other bolt a little so the bracket can rotate. You may have to remove it but I doubt it it. After that the alterantor practically falls out through the d/s of the car.

I've done this before but other ppl may disagree.
Remove the (2) bolts that hold the master cylinder to the booster and move the M/C out of the way. The lines are flexible just dont "kink" them. Take the alternator out.
The only other way I know of is from the bottom which involves jacking up the car, taking off the wheel and removing the radius rod.
The first is waay easier!

Well sure, with that kind of attitude...

Well, I did it from under my driver's side fender. I had the axle out already haha. Take off the splash guard on the driver's side. Take off the two bolts holding the alternator bracket on and carefully rotate it downwards. It should slide right out assuming u twist and turn it.

I removed the master cylinder. it gave me a reason to flush the old brake fluid out.. because i'm lazy and been putting it off. One-man bleeding pump is the shiiizt!
good luck
good luck
it comes out the bottom without taking anything out but the alternator bracket...and the 1 splash guard...you have to manuver it around a little but it does eventually come out
Why the hell are you gonna pull the axle out?
So it can break and you can spend more money?
NO! Hov did that!
Just jack the car up.
Take off the wheel.
Loosen the alternator bracket.
I think I've done this about 15 times.

I second the master cylinder. I was driving from Pensacola, FL to Pittsburgh and my altenator went out around Jacksonville. I had a tool set cause I always carry one on long trips, but anyway I pulled the 2 bolts on the master cylinder and than I slowly forced the break booster down with lines attached because I was on the side of the road from there it was still difficult to pull the altenator out but that's pretty much the only way it'll come out without any extensive work. Wouldn't recommend it though unless of an emergency. Made the last 10 hours of my drive without a problem.
