what the best way to break in a new motor
Is it a BRAND NEW motor or is it a new motor (as in new to the car with low miles)????
IMO.. dont drive it hard. just drive it normal for a couple weeks. This will give you enough time to get all the bugs out without breaking something.
anyone else?

I've studied this issue a fair amount and am fairly convinced that the best way to break a newly built motor in is hard. Not meaning to simply go out & drive like crazy, but a steady method of pushing it hard then letting it coast in gear (engine brake). Push it to 30% for a few pulls, then 50%, then 75% then 100%. Inbetween each pull let it coast in gear. Some rolling hills would be a great place to do it (from what I understand most manufacturers have rolling hill type courses to break in their motors), or just a good flat. Don't forget to change the oil right after this process.

if ur car is turbo i wouldnt drive it unless it is getting tuned on the dyno right away....but i broke my all motor in by first letting it warm up then give it a good 3rd gear power pull then after that i would just cruis in second at 30mph then hit it to 60mph and let it engine brake itself back to 30 then back to 60 and so on i did it 10 times and then i just drove it how i wanted too and my compression is perfect.
