complete this setup by recommending me an amp!
alright today I purchased a used JL audio 10w04 for $45 and a brand new scorpion 10" box at good guys for $40. Now I need an amp! I want something name brand but it doesn't have to have too much power as you can see I have a pretty weak set up. Please tell me what amp I should get! Tell me model # and stuff. But it must be a brand name like jl, jbl, rockford, alpine, pioneer or anything thats not like the ebay crap.
or if you cant reccomend a specific amp please tell me what kinda specs I should be looking for, I dont know crap about car audio!

Basically this sub only handles 125Watts RMS @ 4-ohms. This wont take very much to power it. Since it only has a single voice-coil (i'm assuming since the JL Audio website mentioned nothing about a duel-coil) you can't bridge the coils to either 2 or 8 ohms. This means you need to find a amp that is rated at 125W @ 4 ohms. I would try to find an amp that puts out somewhere around 150W - 200W @ 4 ohms so the amp isnt struggling. Dont look at amp MAX wattages, they basically mean nothing (just a way to make the amp seem very powerful).
If you find a mono amp (can only support 1 sub) look at it's wattage at 4 ohms. If you find a 2-channel amp (supports 1 or 2 subs) look at it's bridged wattage at 4 ohms. The nice thing about JL Audio subs are how they can handle more power than the RMS. JL audio voids the warranty at 250W with the 10W0-4 sub and says the sub will fail due to heat and/or mechanical stress. Keep it between 125-200 watts and it should sound pretty good.
I personally have a JL 12W6V2 that has a RMS of 400W. I am powering it with a Rockford Fosgate Punch P6001 which puts out 600W @ 2 ohms. This thing hits hard. I had to turn it down to keep the bass from overpowering everything. Take a look at my setup here:

Most people here dont like to do dirtywork for other people (like serching for crap). I was nice enough to do a very quick search at the Rockford Fosgate website. They have an amp model Punch P2002 which is 200W x1 @ 4 ohms bridged. This thing runs a little over $100 on ebay. I'm sure you can find a cheaper amp that will work just fine. Rockford fosgate amps work great and that's why they cost so much. Just do seaches on all those name brand websites for product lists and specs. Hope you find something that works. Let me know if you have any questions.

90 watts is gonna underpower that sub. I'm guessing you can get a proper size amp for less than $100. I would pass on the deal. Just keep searching for the right amp, it'll be worth a little extra wait. JL Audio subs are usually power hungry.
