I know a lot of people do this themselves before the motor is in the car, but suppose it's in there already. How much does it usually cost to get pistons installed?
The engine is in the car and running. My guess would be around 12-16 hours for a typical shop to pull the head and pan, swap the pistons and reassemble. At $75 an hour your looking at $900-$1200 for labor.

I was thinking about having someone do it w/ it already in the car, but it might be more cost effective to buy a block get it serviced and the pistons installed, then just swap it out w/ my stock block.
If I get Standard P30 pistons, in a gsr block, would I need to alter the head at all to accomidate the new dome size?
