Default Driver side axle knocking badly. need help urgently

hi guys,

I'm driving a RHD 2nd Gen CRX with a 1gen B16A engine. I recently broke my passenger side axle (Note that is the driver's side for Left hand drive cars). I have an axle off a EG6 around and the length was just right, only thing was the end that fits on the mounting for my car is male while the eg6's is a female end, so we swapped the end around it over and it fitted fine!

Problem is, when i drove the car, there was alot of vibration and knocking sounds from that axle. The sound and knocking dissappears when i make a left turn.

What can be the problem? Could it be that the axle shaft is just alittle longer which restricted the joint to twist properly thus causing the knocking sound? Or could it be that i've damaged the wheel hubs?

when we tried to turn the wheel, i noticed the bracket that holds on the joint is forced to move alittle but if i disengage the axle and try turning the other side of the axle (the non damaged side) the bracket never moved at all, thus concluding that the problem should be localised where the damaged axle is.

Can someone englighten me please? Thanks alot.
