Default question about oil pressure reading

i installed an electrical oil pressure gauge about 3 weeks ago. everything has been fine with it. i checked my oil today and it was about 1/2 qt low so i added 1/2 qt to bring it to the full line. i started the car up and drove it for about 20 mins, the guage was reading normal during this whole time then i parked it and when the car started to idle the oil pressure gauge read 0 PSI but as soon as i started driving again the gauge read a normal PSI like it always has. my question is..what would cause this? i wouldn't think it has anything to do with topping off the oil...but i don't know what else could cause a reading of 0 when the oil level is full?? i dont think its a bad sender b/c the gauge reads correctly all the time except for today when the car was parked and started to idle...any ideas?? there are no leaks or anything and the oil level is still at the full mark.

someone said there could be trapped air in the oil line to the sender which causes higher than normal readings (which I get often) and would also cause a reading of 0 when there is actually oil pressure but the trapped air is preventing the oil PSI from being correctly read by the sender once it drops below a certain point so the sender just reads 0??

and to add..during both of these "0" readings my engine idle was very low like around 400 or less if I remember right...have no idea why..normally idles around 1,000-1,200

i still get VTEC and the engine runs strong like it always has

Check the ground, if it is bad it could give you bad readings

I'd guess its something to do with the wiring also, seeing as its reading normal when your driving.
