I have a 91 integra ls. I recently took off my cap and rotor for inspection and noticed the rotor was in need of change, so while I was at it, I changed my cap too. Before the change, there was no squeak.
After reinstalling the cap and rotor, I now have this low pitched squeak/metal to metal sound. I am also pretty sure the noise is coming from the cap area. To troubleshoot, I removed the new cap and put the old one back on. Still squeaks. I then shot a very small amount of WD-40 just to test. Tomorrow, I will put the old corroded rotor back on and see if it ceases.
Ive read here and on other sites, that the squeak sound usually means "time for a new distributor" but I didnt have the sound before I replaced the stuff. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
