*This is my first DIY, so be gentle with me

Mounting requires the use of some sort of bonding agent such as double sided tape along the edges or a silicon adhesive. Removal of the factory airbag (SRS) should be done by a trained and certified professional who knows how to disconnect the battery and SRS control unit prior to any airbag removal. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Tools
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet
- Philips Screw Driver

Lets Begin

Step 1: Unplug Battery


*Remember to wait at least 5minutes before going ahead

Step 2: Remove Glove box
- i didn't post any pics of this cuz its easy to do, there are 2 screws under the glove box that u just unscrew and the glove box will drop

This is what it should look like so far:


Step 3: Locate & Unplug the "BOOM!" Wire:
Im not sure if this is true for all EK's, but it was for mine but the "BOOM!" wire or the wire that makes the airbag explode had this yellow tube stuff on it, but if u cant find it, it should be 2 red wires connected to a yellow connector. I found mine behind my radio.




Step 4: Start unscrewing the airbag from chassis
*I used a 10mm socket and ratchet



Step 5: Push that fu ker out!
Fairly easy to do, just push the bottom of the airbag up and get a flat head screw driver and put it under the OEM airbag cover and push it up with that.

NOW YOUR DONE
I didn't have my airbag tray cover yet, so i just took off the OEM airbag cover and push it back in its hole!

Hope this helped u guys out

sorry, but personally I would leave it in. They really do work. if you ever get into a collision they could potentionally save your life.

the passenger side, kept my g/f from kissing the dash board.

 

Maybe it's my firewall at work.. But the pictures don't work.

yeah it was hard to get good pictures cuz everything was compact, i tried to include as much detail as possible.

thats why u wear seatbelts
i installed 4pt harness after i wrote this write up, so i dont think the airbag will be needed anymore

 

cool deal man, looks much better with the tray instead of the airbag

 

yeah its on backorder so i unno when im gettin it

 

but i dont have airbags, i love 1991

if you want to install an aftermarket steering wheel .. once the driver side srs is disabled .. the passenger airbag will not activate whether or not it is hooked up or not .. so no point to have a passenger side airbag if you don't have one for the driver side ..

 

Did you know that most countries around the world have fewer airbags than the US? You know what they do instead? They wear seatbelts. There are more airbag injuries here than there are car accident fatalities around the rest of the globe

but you see where my thought process was

 

just take out the cluster bulb .. LOL!

i am sorry but your statistic sucks, INJURIES being the key word, these people are not DEAD! you can't compare injuries to deaths besides an airbag is good if you wear your seatbelts, it's by no means an alternative. also how can this even be relevant, what about all the countries where cars aren't the major form of transportation bicycle, motor bike, tram, feet. i am sorry and i don't mean to flame, i just would hate to have someone from H-T go out and quote this statistic thinking it was a good one.

Other than that very nice thread on removing airbag

 

i'm not saying airbags are good nor bad for the street ..

but for track use .. a full roll cage .. bucket seats .. harness .. a helmet and a helms safety device if you really want to be safe .. is the best ..

for street, you can argue both sides .. but for track . .we all know what's better ..

 

Take out the bulb on the cluster. Just removed mine 2 days ago and damn does it feel good to not have any unecessary lights on the cluster. It's hidden in a good spot but, tops 20mins to do. Nice right up by the way

we were both wearing our seatbelts, but for some reason the locking mechanism that keeps the belt from moving didn't catch on her side. so she went flying forward. Mine did its job and I didn't move.

I hope you have some sort of cage that the harness is attached to. you'd be taking a serios risk by not mounting a 4 or 5 point harness correctly.

 

If you have no use for that airbag BLOW THAT **** UP! Run some wire about 100 from it and connect it to a car battery. Fun as hell

30-40 min to remove 1 airbag... that's slow

Some B**ch removed both of my dads airbags in a fractions of a second.



If you drive that car on the street, keep the airbags.
