Y7 head on B8 block.. which timing belt?
I thought I had asked this but I can't seem to find my thread anywhere, so i'll try again..
I'm wrapping up a friend's car, I swapped an old Y7 head I had laying around onto his '94 CX hatch. I've got everything on and done except I noticed the D15B8 timing belt now has a tremendous amont of slack with the Y7 head on (using the B8 cam gear), something tells me I'm supposed to use a different t-belt or water pump or something. Anybody know what the missing link is?

umm can you use a y7 head on a cx block, i thought the cx pistons were set up for 8 valve. Is the Y7 8valve too. to be honest with you i would think you should use they Y7 cam pulley and the b8 belt. i don't know this is a weird set up.

What makes this half-assed? Here's a little 'Did you know?' kids: Many if not most D15B8's (like this one) came with 16v pistons (B7's) in order to save production costs.
Now that we got that out of the way, does anybody here have a useful answer?

Since a y7 is a 1.6 the timing belt most likely will be off on the b8 1.5 block. Now if you use the belt they use for mini-me's, that could work, but don't quote me, get more opinions first...
Well I just used the Y7 T-belt (which was the same length as the B8 btw), Y7 cam gear and Y7 crank snout (not neccesary, I just did it because it has a casted belt guard lip vs. the loose thin metal disc the B8 uses on both sides of the snout), everything lines up perfect, motor is on time properly. Tomorrow I crank down the head and start 'er up

for figuring it out.
See I did this swap backwards, got a 95 d15b8 head onto a 98 d16y7 block. Can't seem to get it timed right. What do I do? Only thing that is not y7 is the head and timing belt. Gears, distributor, etc... Are all y7.

ok i got a head sittin in my room and im gonna put it on soon. how do i make sure its in timing just
