S2000 engine mating to a FWD transaxle?
Search is either down or not working for me.
Does anyone know if a S2000 engine has been mated with a Honda FWD transaxle? I'm doing some research into making a mid-engine custom vehicle (no, not another mid-engine Mini!)
Anyone know if the tranny bolt patterns match up with any recent Hondas? Can anyone direct me to a source of information?

Only FWD motors that spins the same way as the F20/F22 is the K series. I don't think the tranny bolts up; an adapter plate might be needed.
Yeah that's what I figured... thanks. I haven't worked through what the gearing ends up being either, swapping trannies. Still it might be an interesting exercise since S2000 engine/trannies are ~$4000 while the K20 drivetrain is around $5500. Food for thought.
Laskey Racing (Earl and his son) down in Southern California is building a drag car with a front mounted, turbocharged S2000 motor. I am not sure what tranny they are using but I think it is actually a Chevy transmission. Give them a call, they are very personable.
Look up Hybrid-Racing in STL, MO. They have the capabilities to do this. They were rumored to be working on a K-swap project into an S2000 (which I personally think is the way to go).

Yes, you need an adapter plate. There was a thread a long time ago with pics of a K tranny bolted to an F20. Back then they were thinking about doing motor mounts for a FWD F20/K-tranny combo. I haven't heard anything since, so I doubt it ever got done. What some AWD parts from an Element or new CRV??? Those are K powered.

you would probably be better off with a k20a2 w/upgrades for the easiest way out...still cheaper then the k20a swap. less of a headache then trying to get an f20c to a k tranny. just my 2 cents

Dont forget there was alot of awd civics in the late 80s and early 90s - although the only ones here in the US were wagons - but in jdm land they made sedans!!
