i need tech support
ok im retarded and left my lights on for like 5 hours while i was sleeping. now the battery died ( obviously) and nothing was happening even after i tried jump starting it. not even a interior light turning on or the horn honking.
now i changed the battery in the rain and i still have nothing, nothing turns on, turns over ziltch. the only difference is the horn honks now..... what the hell am i doing wrong ?
im not that retarded, this should have been a simple battery change.

Well it is certainly odd that nothing turns on. Nothing at all? no head lights, no dash lights? Do you have a security system installed on the car? Other than that make sure the battery cables are tight, and that the battery is fully charged. Sometimes batterys are discharged when they are sold... it's rare, but it can happen, especially if it has sat on the shelf for a year. If you have a voltmeter, read the battery voltage.... it should be somewhere around 12.6 volts. Keep reading the voltage while turning the key to start.... the voltage should still stay pretty close to 12.... maybe drop to 10 volts while cranking...... if the voltage drops to like 2 volts when you try to start it.... you might have a bad or dischharged battery. Check it out.
the cables are tight but not as tight as they could be, mainly cuz the bolt is kinda striped. but i tried even getting a jump out of it after installing it and i got nothing from it. im confused as hell.
Does your charger have a jump start function?
You can take the battery completely out of the equation when you jump start a car by connecting positive/positive between both cars, and negeative terminal on the contributing car to any good ground on the recieving engine.
Everything being equal, the car should live ("It's Alive, It's Alive!!!"), the lights should come on and the engine should crank. Now we have to ask what's up with either your cabling, or did your Battery go South?......

Humm, does that make us Auto-Geeks?

we're all geeks, only difference is instead of discussing whether star wars or star trek is better we have cool cars

No, I was refering to the CHARGER having a Jump start capability, not your car!
... And the donor jump car would have acted as a substitute battery, If you had wired the J/cables the way I mentioned.
The problems probably involve your crappy (I don't like using that word) battery cable clamps. Not only won't they allow the battery to give out voltage, but your charger probably worked all night against a high resistance connector and never charged the battery enough.
If you tryed charging positive/positive and negative/negative before, the system will naturally try to charge the battery first, and won't allow a start until the batterys' got sufficient reserve to contribute. As I said before, what I suggested would have bypassed the battery.
But what do I know, have fun

when u say u changed the battery did u install a new one??? or 1 u had laying around in the garage for a few months......
like it was stated before chk that all cables are properly tight and cleaned so they make a good connection .........when u say nothing turns on ,,,no dash lites when u have the key on ?? if so, u didnt accidentely hook up the battery wrong and blew a main fuse right ???

hey desert honda thanx. you just sparked my memory banks and reminded me that i had dropped my wrench on the terminals and saw a spark for a while before it fell to the floor. i just checked the fuse and aits blown, thanx again to everyone else. go ahead and close this thread.
thanx again " tech support"
