Default Sol dead even after new battery?

Basically I came home for the weekend Friday and accidentally left my lights on. Come out to go to work Monday and the car is completely dead. Whatever, I'll have my husband jump it when he gets home. Try to jump it and still absolutely nothing. Whatever, battery must be so dead it won't charge, time for a new one. Got a new battery and put it in....still nothing. Absolutely nothing happens when you turn the key. No turn over, no lights, no click. Just dead.

If it's not the battery, what could possibly be keeping the car this dead?

Does the car turn over?
Any lights?

Possible culprits
-Fuse
-Alternator (not charging battery)

No lights, no turn over. It's acting like it has a dead battery when I know the battery has juice, it's brand new. It's also odd that the old battery wouldn't jump at all.

What fuse could be causing this?

Clean and tighten the battery connectors and the ground wire attached to the chassis.

Do you have a mutlimeter?

Not infront of my car to check + its evening so no sunlight.

Look for a marked fuse indicating battery or alternator.

Yeah it's dark and rainy here at the moment so I can't go pull the fuses and see what's up. I hope it's just the battery fuse that's blown, just wanted to check if a blown fuse would cause a total death like this.

Bad alt imo. Best bet is to get one off ebay. cheap on there compared to autozone. If jot its a fuse under hood

I also say check your grounds as well. I was having this problem a while back and turns out my terminals were pretty bad. I just replaced them and the problem stopped.

Easy way to clean the battery terminals without removing them is to take quarter cup of baking soda and three quarter cup of water . Mix it up in a cup and pour over the battery corrosion (if it has any)

fyi it is safe to do and a can of coke will do the same thing

Sorry I didn't update sooner, but it was in fact the 80 amp battery fuse under the hood. Once I found the right fuse (at Auto Zone, it's a screw down one) and replaced it the car fired right up. So I guess it's safe to say if the car doesn't respond to ANYTHING it can be the fuse.

A blown 80A fuse would not affect the brake lights, hazard lights, or horn.
