Seriously thinking of this setup so i wanted to know things like the compression ratio, what head gasket, anything extra i have to buy.

All feedback is greatly appreciated.

compression will be 9.5-1 any bseries vtec head gasket will work, kind of a waste unless you install some jdm itr or p30 pistons to up compression

I agree but when done right quite a screamer
thinner headgasket won't do enough alone.
I can't find my comp ratio cacl to help now but i beilve from 10.8 to 13 can be made with stock honda pistons depending.

I'll try the calc again sites down

"Poor man's type R" if built with the right components, they can rip. Do some research on 'em and you will find a bunch of people using this setup, both F.I. and all motor. If you search, you will learn. (said in the field of dreams voice, "If you build it, they will come") haha. good luck and let us know with a project thread how it goes.

i got a gsr block w/gsr crank and rods ctr pistons w/ b16a head and itr springs and valves skunk2 st. 2 cams. comp. is 12.3 runs sick on 93 oct. its a poor mans itr, but it definitely screams on the top. dynoed at 198 w/o ps and ac belts. id be willing to sell the top and bottom since i just got a dart block and plan to boost soon. but when i do im just gonna sell the block and use the head i think. sorry to stray off topic but poor mans type r is defintely a fun setup. BTW if anyone is looking for a this gsr block with the ctr pistons in about a month itll be up f/s on here

well the block has ctr pistons, compression 12.3.
and yeah, a gsr block from what i understand is one of the strongest, and crank as well, so using it in conj. with a b16 top yields a pretty decent setup. my car screams on the top for sure. it also has a jdm itr tranny w/ jdm final drive, so its always in power band. its not my build, actually the kid i bought it from built it. his name is chris (H82LOSE) on TR forums, so props to him.
but to raise compression, you have to have high comp. pistons, ctr pistons have the highest comp. ratio of the factory slugs, then itr i believe (11.1)? so high comp. pistons, gsr crank in gsr block, rods of your choice, assuming they work and will give you a well rounded rod ratio, and as for the b16 head, in order to reach the high revs, you need your upgraded valvetrain (valve springs, retainers, valves. then just get yourselfsome high lift cams, cam gears, little larger injectors, and some type of ecu with a good tune, and you got yourself a nicedaily screamer
